The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Metro Rail extension from Koyambedu to Avadi, part of Corridor 5 (Madhavaram–Sholinganallur), is expected to be finalized this month, with a feasibility study underway for further extension to Pattabiram.
Spanning 16.1 km, the stretch will include 15 elevated stations, with potential additions if extended to Pattabiram, increasing the length to nearly 20 km. Key stations include Koyambedu, Padi Pudhu Nagar, Ambattur Estate, and Avadi railway station. The estimated construction cost is ₹6,500 crore, and the depot is planned for Avadi or near the Outer Ring Road in Pattabiram.
If viable, the feasibility report for Pattabiram will be submitted to the government within a month.
