How will electricity meter reading be taken? A note from the electricity sector

In the recent assembly election, Chief Minister Jayalalitha tasted success for the second consecutive time. To everyone’s surprise, she assumed office right after taking position as CM and signed 5 important orders. One of the most sought after order is 100 free units of electricity. Ever since this was signed, there have been various questions and doubts raising from the people and gets thrown in the social media as well. To clarify all these, an edict is being rolled out by the electricity sector.
 
This order for 100 free units of electricity was signed right on the very first day of assuming office, the 23rd of May. In the clarification given in this regard, it is stated that free 100 units is not applicable for all types of usage.
 
Those who have used 100 units of electricity or lesser in a period of two months will have 100 percent waive off of electricity bill. For those who use 101 to 200 units, the first 100 units of electricity will be given for free and for every additional unit between 101 and 200, the charge will be Rs 1.50 per unit.
 
Consumers who use 201 to 500 units in 2 months will also have the first 100 units for free. Units 101 to 200 will be charged as Rs 2 per unit and for 201 to 500 units, the charge will be Rs 3 per unit.
 
Those who consume more than 501 units in the period of 2 months will receive free 100 units. Units between 101 and 200 will be charged Rs 3, for units between 201 and 500, the charge is Rs 4.60, and for every additional unit above 501, a charge of Rs 6.60 per unit is applicable.
