What is going to happen at the Mambalam railway station that would make many passengers happy?

The demand from the commuters for easy and speedy access to all the platforms in the Mambalam railway station is very high. It is known that this railway station in Chennai is one of the busiest. It is true that the double discharge platform has helped many office-goers in this railway station.
Those passengers who want to board long distance trains by reaching platforms 3 and 4 find it very difficult as they would have to take a skywalk available only on the southern side of the railway station. Now, many are demanding the Southern Railway or SR to provide a skywalk on the northern side so that older people need not walk a long distance to reach the platforms on either side.
It was later mentioned by a senior official belonging to SR that Mambalam railway station as a part of upgrading passenger amenities has been provided with a double discharge platform on the western side. Point to be noted is that an escalator has been commissioned on the skywalk at the Ranganathan street side. A lift was proposed to be commissioned at platform 1A near the ticket booking office and another lift on the skywalk to link platforms 1 and 2.
