The T Nagar and R K Nagar flyovers, under construction for nearly two years, will be opened to the public by May, according to the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).
- In T Nagar, alignment issues near Ranganathan Street have been resolved, and the 1.2-km-long CIT Nagar flyover is being connected with the existing Usman Road flyover. A dedicated ground-level lane will help vehicles merge seamlessly.
- The R K Nagar flyover is also nearing completion, with final works underway.
Other Key Flyover Updates
- The Vyasarpadi Ganeshapuram flyover, delayed due to railway work, is expected to take three more months.
- The Korukkupet flyover, stuck due to girder placement delays, will resume construction soon, easing traffic towards Vyasarpadi and Kodungaiyur.
- Two new bridges in Nolambur, crossing the Cooum River, are set to open by July.
Minister K N Nehru confirmed in the assembly that major flyover projects will be completed soon, improving traffic flow across the city.
