The Indian Air Force station got a good start. With residents and volunteers joining hands for the tree plantation drive by Thuvakkam, an NGO.
The public were motivated to take part in a drive where they were requested to drop their daily newspapers. For the newspaper thus given, the participants received saplings which they can plant. In his note about this, Air Commodore, J. Rajendra, the Air Officer Commanding says they will follow Vriksho Rakshiti Rakshita principles which states when people take care of plants, the vice versa will naturally happen.
Key areas of focus - with the support of Thuvakkam, this clean and green campaign is being conducted where we are planning trees starting from May. Plantations thus done are Neem and a few others at important earmarked regions with the ultimate aim of making the environment greener.
Thuvakkam NGO members express their happiness in taking part at this drive.
