Many of us would remember that in the year 2011 a 9 foot tall statue of actor Sivaji Ganesan was installed at Palakkarai near the famous Prabhat theatre in Trichy. Truth is that this statue is yet to be unveiled. It is a known fact that Prabhat theatre used to screen many films of actor Sivaji Ganesan in those days. Point is that Mr. Sivaji Ganesan was the leading actor in the Tamil film industry in those days and many of his films were super hits at the box office.
The good news is the 14 year long wait would soon come to an end. On 9th May 2025, the chief minister of TN Mr. M.K. Stalin would be unveiling this bronze statue of late actor Sivaji Ganesan during his trip to Trichy.
It was mentioned by the sources on Monday that at different locations the statue would be housed and the civic administration would pass a resolution on this soon. Unveiling of this statue did not take place because the government changed. The fans of late actor Sivaji Ganesan took many steps that included a protest but everything went in vain and 14 years have gone.
It was at the ongoing Assembly session Trichy East MLA Mr. Inigo Irudhayaraj raised the issue and the minister Mr. K.N. Nehru assured to unveil the statue. The direction from the court was responsible for the delay and this was according to the minister. He suggested that the statue could be shifted from the present location to a new place.
It is now revealed that the officials have identified a roundabout at Warner`s Road and works regarding this started yesterday. The statue would be shifted from Palakkarai and would be installed at the present location in a couple of days. On 9th May, the CM of Tamil Nadu would unveil the statue.
