Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has announced that women who apply for the Kalaignar Women`s Rights Scheme (Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai) in June will be eligible to receive ₹1000 if they meet the required criteria. The announcement was made today in the Legislative Assembly, with the Chief Minister confirming that Phase 4 of the scheme will begin in June through special camps.
These special camps will be conducted at 9,000 locations across the state, and women who have not yet received the scheme`s benefits are encouraged to attend and apply. Those found eligible will receive ₹1000 directly in their bank accounts.
Applicants must ensure they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Should not own a four-wheeler
- Annual family income should not exceed ₹2.5 lakh
- Must not be a GST or income tax payer
- Should not be a government employee or pensioner
- Should not hold public representative positions such as MLA, MP, or Panchayat President
- Should not own more than 5 acres of agricultural land or more than 10 acres of non-agricultural land
- Only one woman per ration card is eligible; multiple applications from the same card will lead to disqualification of the second applicant
Notably, elderly persons receiving assistance from other government departments do not disqualify eligible women in the same household from applying.
According to the Chief Minister, those who apply in June can expect to receive the first installment of ₹1000 on September 17, the anniversary of the DMK’s founding. It is also anticipated that an official expansion of the scheme may be announced on September 15, coinciding with Arignar Anna’s birthday.
Eligible women are encouraged to prepare and apply in June to take advantage of this opportunity.
