The important news is that under the Central govt scheme roof top solar power plants have been set up at 15,000 houses in Tamil Nadu.
It must be recalled that in the month of February PM of India Mr. Narendra Modi launched PM Surya Ghar - Muft Bijli Yojana Solar homes free electricity scheme. Under this scheme, a subsidy of Rs 30,000 is provided for setting up of rooftop solar power plants of 1kW capacity in the houses. An amount of Rs 60000 as subsidy is provided for setting up of rooftop solar power plants of 2 kW capacity and Rs 18000 for every kW above.
To get this subsidy, the public must apply on the central government`s Surya Veedu free electricity scheme website. On the completion of the construction of a rooftop solar power plant, the subsidy would be paid into the beneficiary`s bank account.
The superb piece of information is that about 72000 people have applied from TN for the setting up of solar power plants. Out of that, approval has been issued to 19000 people. Point is that about 15000 people have 50 MW solar power plants installed in their homes.
By setting up solar power plants in the houses, the electricity bill amount would get reduced. This was mentioned by some officials belonging to TNEB.
