Chennai Water Supply Disruption: Maintenance Work at Nemmeli Desalination Plant
The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has announced temporary disruptions in the piped water supply due to maintenance work at the Nemmeli seawater desalination plant, which produces 110 million liters of water daily.
As a result, water supply will be halted in several areas under the Adyar, Perungudi, and Sholinganallur zones on the following dates:
- March 21, 23, and 25 – Adyar, Thiruvanmiyur, Perungudi, and Kottivakkam
- March 22, 24, and 26 – Sholinganallur, Neelankarai, Vettuvankeni, Palavakkam, Karapakkam, and Duraipakkam
Residents are advised to store sufficient drinking water in advance. Additionally, those requiring water supply can make reservations via the CMWSSB website. In areas without direct connections or facing low pressure, water tankers and street vendor supply services will continue without disruption.
