DMK president Karunanidhi aged 90 years who had earlier indicated a restricted campaign for the Lok Sabha polls, has now decided to hit the roads with full steam.
He will begin his campaign at Coimbatore on April 5. The official tour programme of Mr. Karunanidhi, released by the DMK headquarters here on Tuesday, cited no reason for his decision. However, the party sources insisted that the campaign was always on and that Mr. Karunanidhi was waiting for the finalisation of candidates before commencing his campaign.
In a 12-day whirlwind tour of the State, Mr. Karunanidhi would cover Tirupur, Erode, Salem, Villupuram, Puducherry, Cuddalore, Chidambaram, Mayiladuthurai, Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Tiruchi, Madurai, Sriperumpudur, Vellore, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, South Chennai, North Chennai and then wind up his campaign at Central Chennai on April 21, as he does always.
