The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) in Chennai has issued a warning for very heavy rainfall in several districts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Districts such as Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Mayiladuthurai are expected to experience intense rainfall, while Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, and Thiruvarur may witness heavy rain in isolated areas.
Moderate rainfall has been forecasted for regions including Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Virudhunagar, and Karaikal until 10 am today. On December 18, six districts, including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Cuddalore, and Villupuram, are likely to experience very heavy rain.
The weather department also predicts light to moderate rainfall across many parts of Tamil Nadu, particularly in North Coastal Tamil Nadu, with scattered showers expected elsewhere in the state. Similar weather conditions are forecasted for Puducherry and Karaikal. Isolated thunderstorms and lightning may occur in some areas.
