Chennai Corporation Installs Railings for Pedestrian Safety

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has started installing railings along pedestrian paths near schools, colleges, and hospitals to enhance safety. Installations have been completed near IIT Madras, Loyola College, EVK Sampath Road, and Tank Bund Road.
Activist Ramesh Ramadoss pointed out that several congested areas, including those near Sir Theagaraya College Metro station, still lack handrails. GCC Commissioner J Kumaragurubaran stated that ward-wise mapping is underway to ensure 100% coverage, prioritizing pedestrian and student safety.
