Chennai is set to get a world-class Kalaignar International Convention Centre along East Coast Road, Muttukadu, with construction expected to begin by mid-April. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will soon lay the foundation stone for the project, which will span 37.49 acres near Dakshin Chitra.

With a budget of ₹525 crore, the convention centre aims to establish Chennai as a hub for global conferences, exhibitions, and cultural events. The facility will feature:

- A massive exhibition hall for 10,000 people
- A 5,000-seat convention hall
- A 2,000-capacity auditorium across two floors
- Parking for 1,700 vehicles
- Dining areas, cafeterias, and a VIP lounge

Designed with ornamental stapathi works and grand entrance architecture, the project is led by the Public Works Department (PWD), which has nearly completed land acquisition. The construction is expected to be completed in 18 months.
