DIPLOMA THROUGH POLYTECHNICS IS A GOOD LAUNCH PAD.
It is very good that the students are now
well aware of the significance of going to polytechnics after tenth standard.
Student with good technical bend of mind, polytechnics are a better option than
pursuing plus. There is now a scope for
them to join engineering through lateral entry route at the second year. In
real they do not lose time, rather they get to do what interests them besides
in the second year when they join Engineering they become more comfortable than
the students joined after plus two.
Majority of the polytechnics in Chennai are recording full strength. Unfortunately students join polytechnics
because they cannot afford to join Engineering colleges. Students should join
Polytechnics as a part their career planning strategy. Government should take
steps to improve the infrastructure, quality of faculty and modification in the
curriculum in poly technics. Mathematics taught in terms of level could be scaled
up. The labor intensive manufacturing and engineering units prefer students
from Polytechnics. The courses like textile technology,
petrochemical engineering, film technology, and prosthetics and orthotics
engineering are gaining popularity among Polytechnic students.
