Mostly flyovers constructed would be beneficial for the people but in Annanur it is totally different.
Annanaur in Chennai is an important residential locality and this place is making news now. It must be noted that a flyover construction over a canal in Annanaur has left most adjoining houses flooded. As a result of this, the residents have been facing problems now.
The local residents have mentioned how the flyover construction had hindered the free flow of water into the canal. This has caused the flood-like situation in Annanur now.
A resident of Natesan Street, adjoining the canal, expressed his concern and spoke about how the water has entered his house on the ground floor now and how he and his family members shifted to the first floor. In the year 2013, the work on the construction of flyover started and it was for connecting 1km stretch from Annanur 60 feet road to Ayapakkam canal.
It is worthy to mention that this move to build a flyover was applauded by the residents here as it would save lots of time for them. Point is the residents won’t have to wait for 30 minutes at the Annanur railway station level crossing to go to the other side once flyover construction gets over.
The residents have revealed that in the last one year the construction of fly over picked up speed. The information is this flyover construction has obstructed all the water drainage channels in the place. If no drainage channels are created soon, then there would be a flood-like situation and this was as per the residents.
The shocking news is all the 100 houses in the area would be under the floods soon if this problem was not solved. This was according to Mr. Sudhakaran, former councilor. He pointed about how this is the first time since the year 2015 the houses were flooded.
