No COVID clusters in Chennai now

The news that has come out is the number of streets in the Chennai city with new or fresh Covid-19 remains around 300 while the city reported less than 500 new positive cases. It is clear that there are no clusters and the virus is now more widespread than contained.

From as many as254 streets belonging to the Chennai city there were as many as 484 new Coronavirus cases on Saturday and several streets have been reporting one or two cases only. As per an official belonging to GCC it was confirmed that the positivity rate has come down to around 5percent now in Chennai. He mentioned that on 22nd October as many as 398 streets in Chennai reported fresh cases. Negative trend in the growth rate in the new cases is observed in Chennai city now. Chennai recorded a minus 1.3percent growth rate in the fresh cases on Sunday morning.

It is important to note that out of 15 GCC zones as many as12 zones reported negative growth rate and Anna Nagar reported minus 4.3percent growth rate that was lowest. Positive growth rate was witnessed in zones like Alandur, Perungudi and Valasaravakkam. It must be noted that Valasaravakkam with 4.9 percent growth rate was the highest. Chennai recorded a positivity rate of 4.82 on Saturday. As many as 486 samples tested positive out of a total of 10063 samples.

Until Sunday, a total of 203,824 persons have recovered from the Covid-19 infection at a rate of around 96% and 4374 are under treatment.
