Info about the new Prohibitory Orders issued in Chennai city

The news that has come out now is that prohibitory orders have been issued by the Chennai city police barring any assembly or meeting in the public places from 1st to 30th April 2021 under the section CrPC. The order was passed by the Chennai police commissioner Mr. Mahesh Agarwal
It must be noted that the order specifically bars assemblies, processions, fastings, demonstrations, human chain meetings etc within the city limits in the above said period. The revenue and disaster management department would issue the implementations and other guidelines and restrictions mentioned in the order.
A source from the police department mentioned that the order was passed keeping in mind the election of 6th April and also the raging Covid-19 infection pandemic. It is clear that those who have weddings or funerals in their houses do not fall under the regulatory orders. The applicants must apply for grant of permission atleast 5 days beforehand.
