5612 Special Buses For Pongal festival

The government on Tuesday announced the operation of special bus services for the Pongal festival.

An official release here said the Chief Minister has sanctioned operation of more than 5612 special services across the state, connecting various parts including Chennai, from January 12 to 17 for the Pongal festival. 

These buses would be operated from various parts of the State for the benefit of people to travel to their home town for Pongal celebrations.

Of this, 1,250 buses on January 11th, 1,315 buses on January 12  and 312 buses on January 13th would be operated from Koyambedu Mofussil Bus Terminus in the city to various important destinations and all district headquarters. 

From January 16 to 20, an equal number of buses would ply to facilitate the return journey.
 
People can use the online ticket reservation system for booking seats in the special services, according to an official release. Passengers who find private operators charging exorbitant fare during Pongal can contact the State Express Transport Corporation Telephone: 044-24794705  to register complaints.
