The Central Minister for Education, Ramesh Pokhriyal has informed that the date of reopening of all schools and colleges throughout the country will be decided on 14th April.
Lockdown has been imposed throughout the country for 21 days as a preventive action against the raging coronavirus pandemic spread. All academic institutions, including schools and colleges are closed.
In this situation, the central minister for education, Ramesh Pokhriyal had a video conference with the vice-chancellors of the central universities.
In this regard, the minister shared:
‘Protection /safety of all students and teachers is the most important aspect of the central government. After a thorough review meeting on the status of the coronavirus in the country, a decision on reopening the schools/colleges will be decided, Depending on the exact status, a decision regarding the extension of closure will also be taken!
Even in case, the existing status does not permit the schools/colleges to be reopened after 14th April, suitable actions will be initiated in order that the education of the students is not disturbed.
There are 34 Crores of students (boys/girls) in our country. This is more than the population of the USA! Students are the country’s treasure – their safety is of utmost importance!’
