In a bid to enhance seamless connectivity, the Tamil Nadu government has proposed two multimodal transport terminals at Guindy and Washermanpet, each costing ₹50 crore. Under the Chennai City Partnership Programme, ₹646 crore will be allocated to improve Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) services. The government will also expand the 1997 mini-bus scheme to cover 2,000 routes, benefiting rural areas near urban hubs.

A total of ₹12,964 crore has been earmarked for the transport sector, including ₹1,031 crore for the procurement of 3,000 new buses and ₹120 crore for refurbishing 750 existing buses.
