The price of gold has increased by Rs 25 per gram today, with one gram of ornamental gold now selling at Rs 8,770. As a result, the price of one sovereign (8 grams) has gone up by Rs 200, bringing it to Rs 70,160.
Silver prices have also witnessed a hike. The price of one gram of silver, which was Rs 108 yesterday, has increased by Rs 2, making it Rs 110 today. One kilogram of bar silver is currently being sold at Rs 1,10,000.
S. Chandakumar, General Secretary of the Chennai Gold and Diamond Jewellers Association, stated,
“The US government’s imposition of high taxes on imported goods and the ongoing trade war between the US and China have led to a decline in the stock market. As a result, investors are shifting their focus towards gold, driving prices up in the international market. Consequently, gold prices are rising in India as well.”
