Sudden ban on some vehicles in Chennai

The Department of the Traffic Police has made a sudden announcement - stringent action will be taken if water-tanker vehicles are operated during specified hours in the mornings and evenings,
A review and consultation meeting was conducted by the city traffic police department regarding reducing the traffic congestion.
It was established during the meeting that the water tanker lorries create severe traffic congestion and also more accidents are caused by them.
Following this, a decision was taken to ban the water-tanker lorries from operating within the city during the traffic `peak hours’ of the mornings and evenings – 8.00 AM to 11.00AM and 5.00 PM to 8.30 PM.
Subsequent to this action, it is expected that the traffic congestion in the city would come down and also, the number of accidents will also get reduced.
