The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has announced a major milestone for Phase II of its operations, bringing relief to residents of T. Nagar. The first underground Metro Rail stretch from Kodambakkam Power House Metro to Panagal Park Metro is set to be operational by March 2027.

- Elevated operations from Poonamallee Depot to Porur Junction are expected to begin by the end of 2025.

Panagal Park Station:
- At 319 meters long, this station offers flexibility for operations from the elevated Poonamallee Depot line to Panagal Park.
Officials have confirmed that work on the elevated sections, constructed by L&T, is progressing faster than underground stretches. Corridor 4 spans 26.1 km, connecting Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass, with testing on the Poonamallee Depot to Porur Junction section set to commence soon.
