Thoothukudi Constituency:Thoothukudi Lok Sabha Constituency was newly formed for the 2009 Indian General Election. In this Constituency, Tiruchendur, Srivaikuntam, Tuticorin, Ottapidaram, Kovilpatti and Vilathikulam State Assemblies were merged. Kovilpatti was merged from Sivakasi Consittuency. Vilathikulam, Srivaikuntam, Ottapidaram and Tuticorin were merged from Tirunelveli Lok Sabha Constituency. Tiruchendur was taken from the retrieved Tiruchendur Constituency. Totally 9,49,153 electors in the Thoothukudi Lok Sabha Constituency.
